August 2009

A lot of interruptions  this summer.  I am finishing up a Mahogany/Sitka OM for Dan Kase a blues singer from St. Paul.  It will have a V neck profile and is almost ready to go to finish.  I’m also finishing up a prototype cutaway OM.

We have had grandkids here for the last two weeks.  I put them to work in the shop.  Corrine is quite good at grading tonewoods by taste.  If I could get them to stay I could compete with the Pacific rim prices

I’ll be starting work shortly on two Rosewood/Sitka client OM’s.  They will have master grade tops and beautiful East Indian Rosewood bodies.  Stay tuned for pictures and don’t forget to check out  The Podium’s website.  I have four down there right now.

September 2009

Work is progressing on a Koa/Sitka OM and a Rosewood/Sitka OM  commission.  The Koa was given to me but the sides were too thin so this is my first crack at laminating.  It went quite well and the rimset is very stiff.  It will be interesting to see how this instrument sounds.

I have a Lutz/Mahogany cutaway ready to go to finish.  I am going to try the new Target EM6000 on this as it is a prototype and probably won’t be sold.  It will have an oil finish on the neck.

Dan Mahar was up a few weeks ago and played a date in Alexandria.  He has one of my OMs and also a resonator I built.  He is a retired Nashville lead guitarist and an amazing player.
